This is a song from the “Global Home Movie” album which details an around-the-world tour we made in 1994. It was specifically about my impressions of rural China near Xian where we saw the “terra cotta warriors.” I had never seen a place so utterly untouched by the modern world as this agricultural area at that time.

It was easy to imagine ancient scenes in this place at that time. We had also recently visited The Great Wall and these combined impressions bubbled up on this song.

We were going for a very stark atmosphere on this one. This is very “minimalistic” and I like that.

Remember, headphones, please. The cover photo was taken at Maurice Ravel’s piano in Montfort L’Amaury.

Be kind.

“Long Ago, Far Away”
(Philipsek)

It once was said
“There are no mistakes,
To have your dream you must be
wide awake”
Long ago, far away

A simple farmer in his small stone hut
That time forgets
But God will not
Long Ago, Far Away
Long Ago, Far Away

Azure skies and golden sun
As timeless days fold into one
Long ago

The winter wheat will rise and fall
East or West
Old Sol sees all
Long Ago, Far Away
Long Ago, Far Away, Far Away…
