It’s hard to believe that this album was recorded 15 years ago. This entire album was recorded live in the studio.
As my original intention with this project was to combine the spontaneous feel of an early 1960’s Blue Note recording with a little bit of Nuevo Tango I think the record really works. It was also the beginning of the group East Side.
Clint and I really take time in the improv sections so we get a chance to really thoughtfully explore the harmony.
This is a first take too. (Matt’s bass sound is killer, I think.)
If you put on headphones it’s just like being in the room.
