It’s hard to believe that this album was recorded 14 years ago. This entire album was recorded live in the studio. As my original intention with this project was to combine the spontaneous feel of an early 1960’s Blue Note recording with a little bit of Nuevo Tango, I think the record really works. It was also the beginning of the group East Side. Though Clint moved to Pittsburgh a few years later, that band has continued as a trio and is still going strong.

The song “Roma” is something I wrote more than twenty years ago. I have recorded several versions, including a solo guitar rendition, but this version remains a favorite. The term “Roma” refers not only to Rome the city but is what the Romani people refer to themselves as. I don’t perform this one in live gigs anymore but have given recent thought to resurrecting it. In some subtle ways, it is very much unlike most of my music.

Be kind.
Love,
Reyn
