There are several (in fact 7 total) recorded versions of this song. After all, it is one of my more popular tunes. This version is, by far, the least well-known.
This trio was a very short-lived combo. We (Al, Jeff, and I) did manage to record quite a bit in that short time however and I am only now realizing that we did some very nice things. We even made an album (on CD) called “Three Piece Suite” which is even rarer than this track.
In retrospect, a guitar, sax, and bass trio is an odd grouping but I have no regrets about the dozen or so tracks we have in the archives.
Al Asmus and I grew up in St. Cloud and have been friends for many years. He has always been a great player who deserves wider recognition.
