I wrote this song long enough ago that the lyric starts with “my grandpa went see the doctor” but these days “I went to see the doctor” would be more on point. I gravitate toward “junkyard” grooves at times and this is one of those times. It was fun recording this song and when you listen back years later you can easily recall the exact session or sessions. It really has “swampy” atmosphere and that works for me.
A few old friends really love this track probably because of the self-effacing humor more than any intrinsic value but that’s reason enough.
As poet Donald Hall said aging is “a carnival of losses” and that’s what this song is all about.
Be kind.
Love,
Reyn
