The thing that always appealed to me about the records The Beatles made was how the music conveyed joy (“Penny Lane” is a prime example).

Conveying “joy” is a very hard thing to do, but I have often tried, and this song does “convey joy.” Or, at least, as much as I can muster. And, boy, do we need some joy right now.

This song and recording are a sort of rarity for me.

First of all, I use a “processed” sound on some of the electric guitars. There are lots of guitar tracks here too, including a “capoed” acoustic with non-standard tuning. It may not be obvious, but Ravel’s “Bolero” was a model because of the evolving repeated form. Also, the “dawn scene” from Ravel’s “Daphnis and Chloe” inspired the general idea and the title.

But I like it, please hit “like” if you do too.

Headphones help.

“Hang in there.” (which is something I need to constantly remind myself of.)

Be kind.
Love,
Reyn
