This song seems to have slipped between the cracks somehow. Even I forgot about it but when I listened to it recently I thought it was quite good and might deserve a reappraisal.
The subject matter is a common one for me- the proverbial “is life random or design” question.
I tried to create a “hipster” mood and scene because of the somewhat ponderous lyric. I was thinking of a vibe, not unlike some Greenwich Village beatnik cafe in the 1960s.
To my mind, there is also a Leonard Bernstein influence here too. That is the more “Broadway” or “West Side Story” Bernstein as a composer. But that might not seem obvious.
This one is better with headphones. Later alligator.
