1965 was a memorable year for me. Although I was only 12 years old I had been playing guitar for two years and was putting together my first band The Charades (I’m sure there were probably several bands with that name). We had one yearly gig in downtown St. Cloud every summer at a shoe store during “Crazy Days” and took second place in the downtown talent contest. First place went to the concertina player of course.
We played “For Your Love” by The Yardbirds.

The Beatles, The Hollies, Burt Bacharach and other mid to late sixties music really enthused me at the time. I even discovered Wes and Jobim around this time.
