What It Is
Released: September 2007
|
What It Is was born from several Spring 2007 sessions as preparation for a solo gig scheduled for early summer. This new work is primarily first takes, which preserves the spontaneity which is usually only found in live performances. The thirteen tracks are an energetic mixture of originals and standards with the selections grounded in both improvisational excitement and the desire to take risks to embrace the feeling which only comes when the artist embraces "what it is" and makes the moment their own. |

Artifacts and Curiosities
Released: January 2006
|
The CD is an odds and ends compilation, featuring four new never-released-before versions of his compositions, an assortment of remixed tracks and some surprise additions.
Reynold is successful in providing listeners with some dramatic remixes of previously released tracks and as a result, improves the listening experience. He wanted to present his "best" pieces without merely recycling old recordings and therefore, creating something new from the old.. |

25

This album has special meaning for Reynold at several levels: When this CD was released, it had been 25 years since he was diagnosed with cancer and it happened to be the 25th album released under his name. The album contains eight tracks: all but one of these tracks are new and freshly recorded versions of previously recorded tunes. Influenced by a wide range of musicians from Hank Williams to Django to Pat Martino to Thelonious Monk, 25 represents a moment to reflect and look ahead at the same time.

Three Piece Suite
Released: December 2003
|
A nice departure from his solo work, Reynold enlists the very talented saxophonist Al Asmus and equally talented bassist Jeff Engholm to explore some of Reynold's innovative works. The first three tracks (Lisbon '65, The Laughing Cavalier and Sidewalk Cafe) provide the listener with some intriguing harmonic backdrops for melody and composition. These pieces were written years apart yet there are striking harmonic links and natural progressions evident throughout.

Journey to the Middle Ages
(Book)
Released: June 1999 |
Inspired by Chaucer and Dante, these verses primarily deal with Reynold's thoughts about death, aging, time, fear and religion.
Reynold writes in the introduction: "This is a book of verse. I won't call in poetry because I've heard in order to be called poetry it would have to be some pretty highfalutin stuff. Actually, these verses were originally intended to be set to music for my 11th CD album of songs. The lyrics and general theme grew beyond my usual scope for song fodder, so I threw caution to the wind and decided to publish this book."
